ASSISTANT CONTROLLER - Williston, VT

USA Risk Group is looking to hire an Assistant Controller to join our team in Williston, Vermont. Supervisor: Controller, Chief Financial Officer

Position Responsibilities: Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring timely and accurate processing of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial cycles, with a focus on meeting specific deadlines
  • Manage journal entries, invoices and reconciliation for monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Assistance in preparation of consolidated financial statements
  • Assistance with year-end audits
  • Taking part in the budgeting process and preparing related variance analysis
  • Provide technical accounting support and assistance on other financial related projects where needed

Qualifications / Requirements: Working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and accrual basis accounting.  Experience in financial statement preparation. Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven environment. Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Education / Training / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with 5 – 8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CPA candidate. 

 

ACCOUNTANT - Williston, VT

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional to work for a leading captive insurance management company in our Williston, Vermont location. USA Risk Group is seeking an Accountant whose primary responsibilities would consist of preparing and overseeing financial statements for a portfolio of clients. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Preparing financial statements
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Primary contact with risk managers, Treasurers and CFO's of client companies
  • Organizing and presenting at client board meetings
  • Coordination of client service providers

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able meet strict work deadlines and take ownership of your role, work well independently and as a team, while fostering excellent client relations. You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as attention to detail.

Job requirements:

  • CPA desired
  • 4 year accounting degree
  • 4 years of financial statement preparation or comparable experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks

 Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Captive insurance experience
  • Detailed knowledge of insurance accounting principles
