Gary, a Scottish Chartered Accountant, presides over the entire USA Risk Group family, serving as Chair of the Operational Leadership Team. He develops innovative alternative and traditional risk strategies and programs for clients and prospects of USA Risk Group. With over thirty years of experience in the alternative market, he has been involved in the establishment of numerous single parent captives, association captives, risk retention groups, and traditional group insurance programs. He has also spoken at several national industry conferences, served on the board for NRRA and the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association, and was Treasurer of the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council. Gary currently serves on the Legislative Committee of the NRRA, as a director of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association, and is a former faculty member of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education.
Paul serves as Head of Captive Management for USA Risk Group, as part of the Operational Leadership Team., as well as President of USA Risk Group (Cayman), Ltd. Paul joined USA Risk Group in late 2005 as Senior Vice President and was promoted to President in July 2009. In this position Paul is responsible for managing the Cayman office and dealing with all insurance related activities of client companies under management. Paul has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently as Partner and Insurance Manager of JLT Risk Solutions (Cayman), Limited. In this position, Paul was responsible for insurance related activities of client companies, including brokerage insurance technical support and program design. Paul is British and holds the Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, England.
As Chief Operating Officer, Shawn is a key member of the executive management team and is responsible for developing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures. Shawn oversees the operations of the company, including finance, technology and marketing. Previously, Shawn held the position of Senior Vice President – Sales and Operations. Shawn joined USA Risk Group after holding the position of Senior Vice President of Spencer Capital (USA Risk Group parent). Prior to Spencer Capital, Shawn led the reorganization of sales teams as National Vice President Sales for Cunningham Lindsay. Before joining Cunningham Lindsay, Shawn served as Regional Vice President for Arrowhead General Insurance Agency and as Regional Sales Manager for Zurich. Shawn has over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry. He is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Shawn served in the United States Army with the 1st Bn. 75th Ranger Regiment. In addition, Shawn holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
As Vice President of South Carolina operations, Paul is responsible for a portfolio of clients and serves as the primary contact for South Carolina clients and the South Carolina Department of Insurance. Paul earned a degree in Economics at Clemson University and completed a concentration in Accounting at the College of Charleston. A Certified Public Accountant since 1991, he has worked extensively in both public and private accounting and is active in the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is a former Director of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association.
Jeanne Crawford joined USA Risk Group (Barbados), Ltd. in 1993. In 2004 she was promoted to Vice President and subsequently to Senior Vice President in 2013. In this position she is responsible for the incorporation and licensing of new captives, management of books and records and reporting of results to shareholders and statutory bodies as required for a portfolio of captive accounts and supervision of all office staff.
Prior to joining USA Risk Group, Jeanne spent time in the IT & Tourism Research Department of PriceWaterhouse and as a data entry clerk for Quality Motors.
Jeanne is a graduate of Ryerson University, holds the Certified General Accountant designation and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
As Chief Financial Officer, Paula is a member of the Operational Leadership Team responsible for the accounting and finance reporting for both onshore and offshore USA Risk Group member companies. Paula has been with USA Risk Group since 1995 and her background includes both captive insurance management and corporate accounting experience. Paula is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Vermont and also holds the Associate in Captive Insurance designation.
She is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. Paula is currently a member of the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
As Vice President of Vermont and West operations, Cindy is responsible for a portfolio of clients and serves as the primary contact for Vermont and Western-domiciled clients and affiliated regulatory domiciles. Cindy joined USA Risk Group in 2000 as an Account Manager, was promoted to Senior Account Manager in 2006, Assistant Vice President in 2009 and Vice President in 2013. Prior to joining USA Risk Group, Cindy was employed by a traditional insurance company where she was responsible for preparing and filing statutory returns and served as the company's human resource manager.
Cindy holds an Associate's Degree in Accounting and is an Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance and Associate in Captive Insurance designee.
Jennifer Hawkins joined USA Risk Group in 1995 and has held various positions with the company. In her current role, she is responsible for corporate administration of the USA Risk Group member companies, serving as VP of Human Resources and compiling and submitting all new captive insurance company applications, regardless of domicile. Jen serves as liaison to our office heads and is a member of our sales panel and marketing team. Jen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources, is an Associate in Captive Insurance, Senior Professional in Human Resources and SHRM-SCP designee. Jen is currently a member of the Vermont Human Resource Association, the Society for Human Resource Management and the ACI Alumni Association.
Adam Forstot has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years. He began his career with a major auto carrier serving in various positions, including claims management, training and coverage analysis. Adam then worked for a regional commercial broker in Southern California as a Commercial Claims and Coverage Advisor. In this position, he advised clients and helped facilitate claims in a number of Property and Casualty lines, including General Liability, Auto, Property, Employment Practices and Director’s and Officers. In addition, Adam conducted research and gave presentations on contemporary claims and coverage issues such as mold liability and employment practices.
Adam moved to USA Risk Group in 2004 to oversee their U.S. Virgin Islands office. While there, he was responsible for regulatory relations and oversight of Captive accounts in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Adam moved to USA Risk’s Greenville, SC office in March of 2006. There, he is responsible for the marketing and placement of reinsurance for existing and prospective captive clients, as well as formation of new captive insurance companies. Adam also provides claim, policy and coverage analysis services. Adam is a member of the Sales Panel, responsible for sales acquisition and development.
Adam has a degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designations.
As Vice President of Cayman operations, Rob is responsible for a portfolio of clients and serves as a primary contact for Cayman clients and the Insurance Department of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. In addition, Rob serves as the liaison for offshore operations, ensuring consistency and compliance among our offshore domiciles. Rob holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Open University of British Columbia and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Canada since 2001. Rob is currently a member of the Cayman Islands Society of Public Accountants.
John Tortell has been involved in the captive insurance industry in Malta since Malta’s entry into the European Union, being one of the first captive managers to be licensed. John was also the first chairman of the Malta Insurance Managers Association.
Joshua Jarvis joined USA Risk Group as a Network Administrator in 2008 taking over day to day operations for all onshore and offshore domiciles. Along with the day to day operations Josh was a key player in significant improvements to the company’s infrastructure and many technology advances. In 2009 Josh went back to college at Unitech College in California to acquire Engineer level Microsoft certifications and was promoted to Chief Technology Officer in November 2010. Josh now leads all aspects of Information Technology for USA Risk Group. Josh has many years of experience in the technology field, starting in 1997 working in both the financial and insurance industries. Josh is involved in implementing new technologies that have been instrumental to business efficiency, growth, but most importantly, client interaction. Josh also serves his community as 1st Lieutenant on the local fire department.
